On November 22, the jury of the renowned German Design Awards (GDA), consisting of international luminaries from the world of design, announced the winners for 2020. The award celebrates unique design trends and honors innovative products and projects whose creators and designers are at the forefront of the German and international design landscape. Since its creation in 2012, the GDA has earned a strong reputation within the design community, becoming one of the most important design competitions of its kind. Its winners’ achievements are appraised according to the highest possible standards. Before applicants can even participate in the competition, their submissions are tested for eligibility by the German Design Council as part of a unique qualification process. This safeguards the award’s reputation for excellence. Once again this year, Silhouette qualified to participate alongside its competitors as a manufacturer of premium rimless eyewear. The model TMA – The Icon. from Silhouette's Titan Accent Shades collection was crowned this year's winner of the Excellent Product Design (Lifestyle and Fashion) category.
A stunning blend of unique design and innovative technologies
Constantly pursuing innovation and achieving top quality with a great passion for detail, Silhouette is a trendsetter in the premium eyewear industry. This has not gone unnoticed by the German Design Council, who were eager to add the new “TMA – The Icon.” model from Silhouette's Titan Accent Shades collection to the list of winners for 2020. This collection owes its high-fashion look to the lens shapes, inspired by the wings of the giant blue morpho butterfly of Peru. Yet its design credentials do not stop there: the temples of the “TMA – The Icon.” model are a breakthrough in eyewear design themselves. Two women’s models and one unisex model bring 1970s flair back to life, elevating the previous Accent Shades collection to a new level. Eight of the twelve models are available with prescription lenses, created at the company’s Lens Lab in Linz and can be perfectly customized to fit Silhouette frames. Building on its longstanding tradition for innovation, the Austrian company has developed extremely high-quality sun protection lenses equipped with Silhouette Light Management® features, which offer even stronger protection against harmful UV rays. The lenses in the “TMA – The Icon.” Titan Accent Shades collection combine perfect anti-glare protection with a pleasant brightening effect and brilliant, vivid colors.
