Eyewear and hairstyles create strong accents

Men use the shape of glasses and haircuts to emphasise their look. Cutting-edge fashion houses and famous hair stylists will present exactly what men are wearing at the autumn/winter 2018 Menswear Fashion Week.

The bold buzz cut
At the end of January every year, the upcoming winter collections of the major international menswear designers are seen on the catwalks in London, Milan, Paris and New York. Because decorative cosmetics are pretty straightforward for men, beauty publications tend to focus on beautiful hair. This year, the buzz cut was everywhere, featuring in Versace’s collection and worn by many onlookers. This simple, striking look is achieved by cutting the hair to the same length on all sides. Very short variations reveal head shapes, scars and bald spots. The style calls for men with a strong character who are happy to lay bare their personal traits. Round-framed eyewear is a perfect counterbalance to angular facial features. With 200 possible variations on the new TMA – The Icon. Accent Rings collection, Silhouette, the premium designer of exclusive eyewear, is launching a new set of shapes that match any hairstyle or face shape.

The happy medium
This year, the 90s are making a comeback, both in terms of materials and hairstyles. There are homages to boy bands with their striking “curtains” – smooth, medium-length hair with an exact centre parting. The hairstyle suits square and rectangular faces particularly well, with the French luxury line Dior Homme showing how it’s done. Male models with chiselled faces, centre partings and thin, elliptical shades embody the whole era. Silhouette’s new TMA – The Icon. Accent Rings collection was also inspired by geometric shapes and structures – an impressive symbiosis of frameless and full-frame styles made from strong titanium and light SPX®.

Wavy locks
Howdy, partner! The Canadian designer twins from Dsquared2, Dean and Dan Caten, gave us men with wavy hair on top; bold and daring, often dressed in western style, seemingly ready to challenge an opponent to a duel at any time. But to return to the hairstyle: the main prerequisite is a strong structure with sufficient volume. With this in place, a gentle natural wave can be worth its weight in gold. In order for the style not to look overly casual, it shouldn’t look freshly blow-dried. The secret to success is a perfect textured cut with an undone finish. To achieve the look, it’s worth letting the hair air-dry and only use styling products like matt pastes and salt sprays very sparingly. Beards give facial features an additional touch of masculinity. The angular aviator shape of Silhouette’s TMA – The Icon. Accent Ring is the perfect way to cap off this raw look, combining shiny metals like rhodium with matt surfaces in black or denim blue ruthenium. Ergo: the perfect style for any city-dwelling cowboy.
