If sunlight breaks on a smooth surface – such as asphalt or water, for example – one has the impression of being dazzled by thousands of small suns. Reflected light is many times more intense than non-reflected light; it makes the eyes tire more quickly, removes clear vision and demands a stronger sun protection for the eyes.
The most intelligent sun protection for the eyes offers polarised sun protection lenses, which are considered to be the sun protection technology of the future – not just among experts.
Silhouette’s research and development experts have grappled intensely with this issue. The result: the most advanced polarisation technology in the world, the 12-layer technology – referred to by Silhouette as IQ POL - has been used in the current SUN 2008 sunglass collection.

Facts & Figures for IQ POL:
- Polarised sun protection lenses are the only way to avoid disruptive glare, which results from the reflection of light on horizontal surfaces (asphalt, water etc.).
- Reflected light-waves are horizontally aligned, unable to pass through the vertically aligned polarisation filter of a pair of sunglasses, and are thereby efficiently filtered out.
